If you want to create 3d text in catia, you can follow this simplest method. (Here i have shown in catia v5 r17)
STEP-1
Run catia and as default a blank file will open, close it.
STEP-2
Go to file option and select NEW.
STEP-3
Select the file type as DRAWING and click ok.
STEP-4
Then it asks for sheet style, just keep it in landscape for convenience and click ok.
STEP-5
Now click on TEXT tool in ANNOTATIONS.then click at any suitable place on sheet where you want to write your text. Then a text editor box will appear. Write your text in this box and click ok.
now your text appears in rectangular box and you can change it's font size & style easily.
and your text lool like this ( i.e. 3D TEXT).
STEP-6
Go to file menu and save the file as DXF format.
STEP-7
now close this currently open file. it will again ask to save, save it in DRAWING format if you want else ignore it.
STEP-8
Go to file menu and select new.This time, select file type as PART. and confirm ok
STEP-9
then it aks for file name, write your part file name and keep rest of the things default.
STEP-10
In part file,first select any plane in tree for sketching (in my case it is xy plane).
Then click on sketch tool (as you click on sketch tool, it will change view from 3-d space to xy plane).
STEP-11
(Now you are in xy plane) Go to file menu and click open. Browse your dxf file saved earlier and open it.
STEP-12
Now your text of dxf file look like this.Make rectangular selection over whole text.
STEP-13
Move the cursor over selected text and right click there.Then choose copy.

Finally your text look like this

- Close dxf file.
- Use ctrl +V shortcut to paste the text on xy plane (after closing dxf file, you are again in xy plane of part file).
- sometimes, it does not show your text because it may be too small in size.so click on FIT ALL IN button given in bottom.
- when text is visible, select whole text by rectangular trap and click FIX TOGETHER from constraints and click ok on fix together definition box.(now whole text becomes like single entity)
- then click and hold the text to move to suitable position on plane.
- then click on exit workbench.
STEP-15
- Click on PAD tool to extrude your text.
- give extrusion length and click ok.
Finally your text look like this
